NNOD will support Grant Requests.
GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
- Working with staff and design team to complete applications and required
documentation for two TWPD grants ($1 million each). Agenda item being
prepared for January 15th Council consideration for authority to apply and
accept if awarded.
- TPWD guidelines specify that the total amount of approved grant funds
which have not been reimbursed may not exceed $2,000,000.00 for all active
grant projects. The City of San Antonio was awarded $1,000,000.00 in August
2008; therefore the City may only be awarded an additional $1,000,000.00
from TPWD until previously awarded funds have been utilized.
HISTORIC
- Direction has been given by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) that
no modifications can be done to the homestead area until THC has completed
review of the Historic Structures, Intensive Archaeology, and Cultural
Resources Reports as submitted by the consultants. Anticipate completion of
review by THC by December 19th.
- The consultants anticipate that THC will concur with findings of
historical significance, resulting in required coordination and approval by
THC for any modification to the homestead area (including the pasture). In
addition, THC has recommended the formal creation of a preservation plan
with avoidance buffer for the site. Will coordinate with Kay Hindes
regarding this plan.
- This direction by THC impacts the buffer tree planting program
requested by Summerfield, placement of the Parks staff temporary building
and Phase IA construction staging area which were proposed to be placed in
the pasture of the homestead area.
- Preparing application for January 7th HDRC meeting for consideration of
location of temporary building at Voelcker to house Parks staff. Approval by
HDRC would be conditional pending approval by THC.
